Cricket Shuffle (2nd Draft)

Some infectious, motivational, fun with 5/4 (and some).

  • 0:01 The clickety clack sounds which inspired the song's name were sampled from the drum stick count-in to TV on the Radio's 2006 song 'Hours'. Sounds nothing like the original though – I've sequenced, processed and swung it to sound completely different. This happy accident informed the entire track's vibe.
  • 0:18 This snare I ripped from Turing Machine's 2000 song 'On Form and Growth' – I love that album so much! Opened a whole new world of music for me at the time..
  • 0:34 These are from a sample pack of glasses being played at different pitches by running your fingers on the rim.
  • 0:57 I think these are champagne glass samples, the former being martini glasses!
  • 1:26 One of the things I love about the Deluge was the ability to use time signatures beyond 4/4. This one is mainly 5/4.
  • 2:05 The monolog sample here I took from Ryan Reynolds in the movie 'Chaos Theory' (2008). I had been collecting various monologs from films and TV for years and this one really clicked.
  • 2:46 I really liked the distortion effect on the glass samples.
